Robotics technicians are responsible for building, installing, testing, and maintaining robotic equipment and related automated systems. Such workers require one to two years of training with experienced workers, and some employers may require completion of an apprenticeship program.

Commonly Performed Tasks
There are many tasks that robotics technicians must perform regularly. They test the performance of electromechanical assemblies, read prints, schematics, diagrams, and technical orders to determine methods and sequences of assembly. Robotics technicians inspect parts for defects, install electrical and electronic parts and hardware, use soldering equipment and hand tools, and verify part dimensions and clearances to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Test performance of electromechanical assemblies using test instruments such as oscilloscopes, etc.
- Read blueprints, schematics, or technical orders to determine methods and sequence of assembly
- Inspect parts for surface defects
- Install electrical or electronic parts and hardware using soldering equipment and hand tools
- Verify dimensions of project for conformance to specifications using precision measuring tools
