Mechanical engineers primary duties are to planning and design different tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical equipment. They also oversee installation, operation, maintenance and repairs of equipment. Mechanical engineers require several years of work-related experience, on-the-job training, and/or vocational training. There are many tasks that mechanical engineers must perform regularly. Mechanical engineers read and interpret different prints and drawings and research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain a variety of equipment. Mechanical engineers work with others to implement operating procedures, resolve malfunctions, and provide technical information. They develop and monitor production, investigate equipment failures when necessary and recommend solutions.
