TEAM Consortium partner school Eastern Gateway Community College has received $836,000 in an Appalachian Regional Commission POWER grant. This grant program focuses on regions that have lost jobs in coal electricity generation and other coal-dependent industries. The funds will be used to create a new regional facility for workforce training in advanced manufacturing and energy industries.
“Over the three-year grant period at least 650 workers/trainees and 120 students will obtain new positions or enhance their current ones, and six businesses will be improved by the training model.” said Dr. Jimmie Bruce, president of Eastern Gateway Community College.
